5 Things to Do Before Your Trip for a Stress-Free Vacation

Vacations should never be stressful, but sometimes things come up that can turn your relaxing trip into a headache. If you take a few extra steps, you can save yourself from that unnecessary stress. Keep reading for a few of our tips to help you prepare for a stress-free vacation!

5. Let your credit card company know you will be traveling

There would be nothing worse than traveling somewhere far (especially out of the country) and not having your credit card work. Before you leave for your trip, be sure to either go online or call your credit card company to set up a travel alert so that your card does not get shut off.

4. Plan out your outfits before you pack

You can maximize the space in your bag by being strategic with the items you pack. Take some time before you begin packing to decide on what outfits you want to wear while you're away. Check the weather in the area and take into consideration what activities you will be doing on your trip, too! Packing items that you can wear with multiple outfits also can free up space in your bag!

3. Plan to take a day or two off of work after your trip

It can be stressful knowing you need to go back into the office the morning after you return home from a trip. Either plan to return home at the beginning of the weekend or take off an extra day or two after you return home. You can use this time to unpack, do laundry, adjust from jetlag, and run any errands before you get back into your normal routine.

2. Clean out your fridge/clean your living space right before you leave

Your future self will thank you if you think ahead and clean your living space to come home to a fresh space after your trip. Be sure to throw out any food in your fridge that will go bad while you are away. After a relaxing trip, it feels great to come back to a clean, relaxing space!

Packing for a trip can feel overwhelming — pack too little and you're scrambling, pack too much and you're dragging a suitcase that weighs more than you do. After years of helping travelers get where they're going, we've put together the packing list we actually stand behind. Not the exhaustive, bring-everything-including-the-kitchen-sink kind — the smart, been-there-done-that kind.

My family just returned from our Walt Disney World Vacation a few weeks ago, and we had an amazing trip. But unfortunately, I have heard from many of my friends & family who have also taken trips to Disney, and did not have the best time. I think going to Disney nowadays takes a lot of planning and research prior to your trip so that you don’t spend your whole day waiting in lines and not having a gameplan. That’s why I highly recommend you should use a travel agent who specializes in Disney so that you can make the best of your trip. If you’re interested in having the best Disney World trip possible, keep reading!

At Brentwood Travel, we pride ourselves on curating unforgettable experiences for our clients. Recently, Travel Advisor Allison Roth sent her clients on a Viking cruise through Norway's stunning fjords and into the Arctic Circle - a journey in search of the magical Northern Lights. The journey began with an unexpected change of plans. As anyone who travels knows, the weather can be unpredictable, especially when sailing from Barcelona to the UK. Due to challenging weather conditions, the Viking Neptune was unable to dock at Tilbury for embarkation day. Instead of boarding at 11:00 AM as scheduled, guests were treated to a three-hour visit to an art museum in London before being transported to Portsmouth, where they embarked at 9:00 PM. While this meant missing the Amsterdam port stop entirely, Viking responded by providing compensation of $125 per person and refunding excursion costs. It's a good reminder that cruise lines like Viking work hard to accommodate guests when Mother Nature intervenes. Below is the review they shared with Allison about their incredible adventure.
