Rave Review: Honeymoon at Baglioni Maldives
What made you choose Baglioni Resort Maldives for your honeymoon, and did it live up to your expectations?
We chose Baglioni Resort Maldives, with the help of our amazing travel agent, Maria, for our honeymoon because we were looking for a destination that was all-inclusive, relaxing, beachfront, and somewhere new to explore together for our honeymoon. A water bungalow was high on our wishlist, and we were lucky enough to experience not just that — but two different types of villas during our two-week stay, which made it feel like two vacations in one. It absolutely lived up to our expectations. Maria showed us multiple locations that we looked into, when she sent the Baglioni Resort for us to check out - that was it! It only took a quick glance at the website to know this is exactly what we were looking for.
Could you describe your villa accommodations at Baglioni Resort? (What type of villa, special features, views, etc.)
We spent the first part of our trip in a Beach Villa, which had direct access to the soft white sand and was surrounded by lush tropical greenery. It also came with its own private pool, expanding from the deck, including lounge chairs and a table with seating in a shaded area. They also had a shower outside to get rid of all the sand on our feet before walking back into our room. This area felt incredibly peaceful and secluded — perfect for slow mornings and quiet evenings. On the other side of the room was another outdoor area with two more showers, a jacuzzi tub, two sinks and the rest of the bathroom.
For the second half of the trip, we moved to an Overwater Villa Bungalow, which was everything we dreamed of: panoramic ocean views, direct access to the turquoise water, and yes — another private pool, just steps from the lagoon. This villa had a large deck with a pool and direct access to the ocean. This time, the bathroom (and jacuzzi) was inside the villa, had two sinks, and had great views. Both villas were beautifully designed, and the privacy they offered made our honeymoon feel extra special and intimate.
The resort truly exceeded our expectations — from the incredible food and warm hospitality to the luxurious spa, snorkeling right off the deck, and pure tranquility everywhere we went. It was romantic, restful, and exactly what we were hoping for on our honeymoon.
What was your typical day like at the resort, and which activities or experiences would you consider "must-dos"?
A typical day at Baglioni Resort Maldives started with a peaceful breakfast overlooking the ocean, followed by slow mornings soaking up the sun and taking in the views. One of our favorite daily activities was snorkeling — the water is unbelievably clear, and the reef is full of vibrant marine life. It’s an absolute must-do, whether right off the beach or during an excursion. We took a day trip to a nearby local island, which included a cultural tour and more snorkeling in a totally different setting — it was one of the most memorable parts of our stay.
In the evenings, the resort offered rotating nightly entertainment, which kept things fun and fresh. We enjoyed karaoke night, live acoustic music, and the BoduBeru dance performance, which gave us a taste of Maldivian culture and added something special to our nights. Each day felt effortlessly relaxing, with just the right amount of adventure, delicious drinks, and amazing food — the perfect honeymoon rhythm.
How was the dining experience at Baglioni? Were there particular restaurants or dishes that stood out?
The food at this resort was by far the best we’ve ever had at an all-inclusive — it truly exceeded our expectations. Almost every meal was enjoyed right by the water or on a deck over the ocean, creating a stunning and romantic dining atmosphere for each meal. While covered/indoor seating was available, we almost always chose the scenic outdoor settings.
The resort has four different restaurants, each offering incredible food and top-notch service. We especially loved the Italian, Asian, and beachside grill-themed dinners — each one was unique and memorable. The buffet was also a highlight, not only for its quality, but for its variety. It changed daily, which kept things interesting, and featured a fresh pasta station with a plethora of noodles and sauces to choose from, led by an award-winning Italian chef — a definite favorite. From breakfast to dinner, everything was thoughtfully prepared and delicious. They even set up a special, romantic, 5-course, honeymoon dinner for us one night, which was led by the Italian chef! Overall, the dining experience was one of the biggest highlights of our honeymoon — flavorful, elegant, and perfectly matched to the beauty of the surroundings.
What romantic touches or special honeymoon amenities did Baglioni provide that made your stay memorable?
Baglioni truly went above and beyond to make our honeymoon feel special. One of the most memorable experiences was the private honeymoon dinner they arranged just for us — complete with a custom menu and personal service from the head chef, who came out to present and explain each dish. It was such a thoughtful and intimate experience.
Our villa attendant added to the magic by decorating our room daily with romantic honeymoon touches — from creative towel art to fresh flowers, and even complimentary bottles of wine delivered to the room. Every detail made us feel celebrated and cared for, and it all contributed to a honeymoon we’ll never forget.
What spa treatments or wellness offerings did you experience at Baglioni, and would you recommend them to other honeymooners?
We didn’t personally book any spa treatments during our stay at Baglioni, but we did hear glowing reviews from other honeymooners we met at the resort. Two couples told us they had the best massages they’ve ever had, and they weren’t exaggerating — they highly recommended it.
As a honeymoon gift, the resort offered us a private one-hour yoga session with their instructor, which we really enjoyed. It was a peaceful, thoughtful, and educational experience that added to the overall sense of relaxation and ease. Based on the feedback we heard and the quality of the wellness offerings we did experience, we’d definitely recommend honeymooners take advantage of the spa and wellness services as well.

What surprised you most about staying at an island resort in the Maldives that you weren't expecting?
What surprised us most was the genuine warmth and hospitality from the staff. We expected good service, but it truly exceeded our expectations. The Maldivian culture values hospitality, and it really showed — every staff member, regardless of their role, was incredibly kind, friendly, and sincere. Many took the time to get to know us, and we even formed real connections with several of them. We had the chance to spend time with some of the staff when they were off the clock, which made our stay feel even more personal and meaningful.
Another pleasant surprise was how accommodating the resort was with transportation. Our overwater villa was one of the farthest down the boardwalk, so we could call for a golf cart pickup at any time. On the few occasions when it rained, they arrived quickly and even had zip-down rain covers on the carts, so we’d stay completely dry. Little thoughtful touches like that really made the experience feel effortless and cared for.
What was your favorite water activity or marine life experience during your stay?
We really enjoyed the snorkeling — the water was incredibly clear, and we were amazed by the vibrant marine life just steps from the beach. Swimming alongside colorful fish and graceful rays felt like being in a living aquarium. Beyond snorkeling, the resort offered complimentary paddleboarding and kayaking every day, which quickly became some of our favorite activities. While we did it mostly for fun and to explore the stunning surroundings, these activities also provided a surprisingly great full-body workout. Paddling across the calm, crystal-clear waters gave us a perfect mix of exercise and relaxation — working our arms, core, and balance while taking in breathtaking views of the turquoise ocean stretching out endlessly.
Even if you’re not typically very active, we found paddling through the Indian Ocean to be an accessible and enjoyable way to stay moving without it feeling like a workout. The peacefulness of the water, the warm sun on our skin, and the vibrant underwater world just beneath the surface made it an experience that refreshed both body and mind. It was the perfect way to combine fitness and fun, all while soaking up the incredible natural beauty around us.

What would you recommend packing for a Maldives honeymoon that you found essential or wish you had brought?
When it comes to packing for the Maldives, I’d say pack light, but smart, and for comfort. Some things we brought ended up unnecessary, while others were absolute lifesavers. First, a huge shoutout to Maria, who sent us a thoughtful gift package for our honeymoon. It included waterproof phone covers with lanyards, which were amazing for keeping our phones safe near the water. She also sent a plug adapter, which you definitely need to use your appliances there. We actually brought two adapters, which was perfect so we could charge devices on both sides of the bed — a small detail that made a big difference.
I used the adapter to power my straightener and curling iron, but here’s a tip: don’t bother trying to curl your hair. The humidity will just take the curls right out, so you’re better off skipping the time and effort. Also, don’t pack a hair dryer — the resort provides one, and even my high-powered Dyson didn’t work there due to voltage differences, so save the space. For clothing, definitely leave the heels at home since you’ll be walking on sand and boardwalks most of the time. They provide slippers and a beach bag in the room, which is super convenient. Bring a few swimsuits and cover-ups, along with tank tops and shorts for daytime. For evenings, pack cute, casual outfits that are fun but not too fancy.
If you plan to visit nearby local islands, remember they’re quite conservative. So, it’s important to bring clothes that cover shoulders and knees for those excursions. And of course, don’t forget comfortable clothes to sleep in. Overall, the key is to pack light, focus on comfort and practicality, and prepare for the humidity and cultural norms you’ll encounter.

If you could give one piece of advice to couples planning a honeymoon at Baglioni Resort Maldives, what would it be?
If we could give one piece of advice to couples planning a honeymoon at Baglioni Resort Maldives, it would be to avoid visiting after April. That’s when the rainy season begins, and many of the resort’s restaurants and activities may be closed or limited due to weather. You might find yourself having to reschedule experiences or missing out on some of the things that make the trip so special. For the best weather and full access to all the resort has to offer, plan your visit in April, or before.
