The Bonamargy friary dates back to the 15th century, with well-preserved altars, a church, and burial vault. Legend has it this friary is haunted by Julia McQuillen, a reclusive poet, who was murdered in the building. Known as the Black Nun, you can allegedly summon her spirit by walking around her grave seven times clockwise, seven times counter clockwise, and then putting a hand through the hole on the Celtic cross that marks her grave.

3. Bran Castle - Transylvania, Romania
Bran Castle is known by ghost hunters as the world’s most haunted castle. This fortress served as a military outpost for hundreds of years and saw lots of bloodshed. Many were imprisoned there, and likely faced horrific treatment, as medieval torture devices have been found there. This castle is long thought to have been the inspiration for Dracula’s castle in Bram Stoker's novel.
4. Palace of Versailles - Versailles, France
Once home to King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, the Palace of Versailles has been rumored to be haunted by their ghosts. The two were held captive there until they were tried and executed for crimes against France. 5. Catacombs of Paris - Paris, France
As public health problems caused Parisian cemeteries to fill up, they began transferring bodies to the Catacombs. This eerie underground tourist attraction holds millions of Frenchmen bones so it’s not surprising that people have reported spooky sightings here. Legend has it that voices try to lure visitors deeper into the catacombs late at night.
6. The Ancient Ram Inn - Gloucestershire, England
The Ancient Ram Inn is the oldest building in England’s Wotton-Under-Edge and has a long list of haunted legends. Not only is the property home to a 5,000 year old Pagan burial ground, but it was also once the home of a “witch” who was burned at the stake. Evidence of human sacrifice was found by a man who purchased the property in 1968. The man claims he has had many paranormal encounters and has even been attacked by these ghosts but he still resides in the home today.
