A Perfect Day in Denver for the Art Lover

​If you love arts and culture, Denver is a great city to visit. There are several places to explore in the city that highlight some of the local art and artists. This blog post will detail the perfect day in Denver for someone who loves all things art related.

Breakfast at Union Station
To start the day, visit Union Station for a coffee and some breakfast. Union Station has been restored to keep its beautiful architecture, but has now transformed into a popular dining and shopping spot. Grab a quick coffee and pastry at Pigtrain Coffee co, or reserve a table at Snooze. Union Station also houses The Crawford Hotel, and is a great place to consider if you’re looking to stay somewhere centrally located.

Denver Art Museum
For the first activity of the day, you will visit the Denver Art Museum, also known as DAM. It has recently been fully renovated with extra gallery space and beautiful views of the city and the Rocky Mountains. Discover exhibits ranging from photography to textiles from artists all over the world. Also, don’t forget to check out the architecture of the DAM; the shard-shaped building, designed by Daniel Libeskind, is a work of art in itself!

Confluence Park & Neighborhoods for Lunch
Denver was founded at Confluence Park back in 1858 as a gold mining camp during the gold rush. Today it is the center of the bike trail network, has plenty of playgrounds, and several  lively neighborhoods with restaurants and breweries running alongside it. Why not experience some of the history of Denver on your way to lunch? Discover eateries built inside of old shipping containers like Avanti F&B, or Linger’s rooftop bar for scenic views of the city. After lunch, stop by the iconic Little Man Ice Cream in Highland, and snap a photo next to the giant silver milk can outside.

Upstairs Circus
After getting some inspiration from the Denver Art Museum this morning, head on over to Upstairs Circus to create a work of art of your own. Choose from a menu of different projects with varying difficulty/completion times while sipping bottomless mimosas for the next three hours. If you don’t finish within the three hour timeframe, feel free to either finish it at home or schedule another visit to work on your existing project. This is a great spot to make a unique souvenir to commemorate your trip to Denver!

Meow Wolf Denver
Feeling good after those bottomless mimosas, you’re going to want to call a ride to Meow Wolf. What’s Meow Wolf? It’s kind of hard to describe, but think of it as an interactive art museum for both children and adults. Sign up for the interactive scavenger hunt before entering, or just wander around and take everything in. Start your adventure by taking the elevator down into Convergence Station, and explore the four different 'alien worlds'  located throughout. Don’t expect to take the same elevator back to the surface though, you’ll have to find a different way out!

Dinner in LoDo
To finish the night off, visit LoDo, also known as the Lower Downtown historic district. There are plenty of restaurants, bars and breweries to choose from for dinner. Check out the Wynkoop Brewery, the first brew pub open in Denver after Prohibition. Or if breweries aren’t your thing, Rio Grande has great margaritas and Mexican food!
