One of the great things about living in the Midwest is the easy access to so many different locations across the United States. Just a short drive or flight away is the Southeast United States, filled with so many gorgeous cities just waiting to be discovered by you. From mountains to beaches, small towns to major cities, you can find so many incredible sites in this area of our country. We've chosen five fantastic destinations in the Southeast for you to explore next! 

Are you a fan of the mountains and craft beer? Then Asheville, North Carolina is just the place for you! Located in between the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville is a fantastic city for music and art, with a heavy emphasis on their craft beer scene as well. With its close proximity to the mountains, it's also perfect for hiking and adventure at every turn. 

One of the Southeast's oldest and prominent cities is Charleston, South Carolina. Its cobblestone streets, antebellum style houses and mansions bring to life a beautiful old world charm that you just have to experience. Stroll along the Battery Promenade or a visit at Fort Sumter to truly take in the history this city has to offer.

The most Southeastern city in the United States is Miami, Florida! Its incredible Cuban influence can be felt around every corner with fantastic food, drinks, entertainment and nightlife. Plus, its location on stunning beaches along the Florida coast offer the perfect destination to relax on the sand, catch some waves or go for a snorkeling adventure. Not to mention, Miami is one of the largest cruise ports in the world and it makes for a perfect pre-cruise destination for your next sailing. 

Known as the Big Easy, New Orleans, Louisiana is a fantastic destination just south of us. This energy-filled city has mouthwatering Creole food, tasty drinks, breathtaking architecture, and most importantly, soulful jazz music all along its streets. Strolling along throughout the French Quarter and Garden District are must-dos in this historical southern city. 

A pure jewel of the South can be found in Savannah, Georgia. This city is filled with classic Southern hospitality, cobblestone streets, antebellum style houses, horse-drawn carriages, and breathtaking oak trees covered with classic Spanish moss. Feel like you're stepping back in time by exploring Savannah with its relaxed atmosphere, music, art and history.
